Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Switcher Tractor Operator to move trailers between staging areas and docks. You will assist with loading/unloading, stay connected with dispatch, and perform daily maintenance checks on the switcher unit.

This is a full-time role requiring reliability and attention to detail. The job involves dock duties several days per week, operating switcher and forklift-ready workflows, and following safety protocols to ensure smooth trailer

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must read, write and speak English.
Experience driving a tractor-trailer.
Experience using handheld computers/scanners.
Must follow two-way radio or phone instructions.

Responsibilities

Back trailer to loading docks, open bay doors and assist dock workers in loading/unloading trailers.
Maintain contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pickup instructions.
Perform daily maintenance checks on the switcher and report malfunctions.
Fuel the switcher tractor at the end of each shift.
Complete necessary paperwork and dock-related duties; work on dock as assigned.
