Job summary

Fauquier Health in Warrenton, VA, is seeking a part-time PRN Switchboard Operator to join our onsite team. You will operate the telephone switchboard, route calls, announce codes, and support rapid response and security communications, delivering calm, accurate information in a busy hospital setting.

Applicants should have customer service experience and strong verbal and written communication skills. High school diploma preferred; multi-line switchboard experience in healthcare is a plus, with

Responsibilities

• Operates the telephone switchboard and routes calls to appropriate personnel; announces necessary codes with accuracy and implements emergency response and Rapid Response teams.
• Reports all alarm variances to the facilities security team as appropriate.
• Exercises sound judgement in processing and issuing code requests, including assessing severity, type and authenticity.

Our collaborative Switchboard team keeps our hospital connected 24/7. Operators are trusted to manage high call volumes, assist patients and visitors, and support staff communication across the organization.

Fauquier Health

is a 97-bed acute care hospital offering surgical services (including robotics), a 24-hour Emergency Department, extensive medical imaging capabilities, an Intensive Care Unit and much, much more. The Fauquier Health system offers patient care for a variety of specialty services including Orthopedics and Spine, a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and robotic-assisted surgery. The fourth floor of the hospital is devoted to our Family Birthing Center and Intermediate Care Nursery.

How you'll contribute

A Switchboard Operator who excels in this role:

• Operates the telephone switchboard and routes calls to appropriate personnel. Announces necessary codes with accuracy and implements emergency response and Rapid Response teams utilizing electronic methods.
• Promptly reports all alarm variances to the security of facilities department as appropriate.
• Exercises sound judgement in the process and issuance of code requests to include assessing severity, type, authenticity, etc. Announces all codes in a timely, clear, and calm manner. Obtains all necessary information from callers.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have previous experience in a customer service role and possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least 2 years' experience in a customer service role required.
• Experience utilizing multi-line switchboard in a healthcare environment preferred.
