Job summary

Raycap Inc. in North Charleston, SC is seeking a Switchboard Engineer to design low voltage switchboards and panelboards with attention to safety standards.

You will create 3D sheet metal parts, develop 2D/1-Line drawings, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers. A Bachelor's in engineering and 4–8 years of UL891/UL equivalent experience are preferred. The role offers growth and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • 4–8 years of professional experience (UL891 OEM or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Suite preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Design 3D sheet metal parts with flat patterns.
  • Follow design life cycle states and design standards.
  • Create and understand 2D Front View, One-Line/Single-Line and Layout drawings using CAD software.
  • Ensure clear communication between Engineering, Manufacturing and other key stakeholders.
  • Work in a team environment to analyze requirements from clients and develop design solutions.
  • Ensure clear communication with suppliers/vendors on an as-needed basis.

Switchboard Engineer

Full-time Regular North Charleston, SC, US

Job Summary:

The Switchboard Engineer is responsible for Designing Low Voltage Switchboards and Panelboards. This role requires great attention to detail with a preference for self-starting mentality. All products must be designed using applicable safety standards & regulations (National Electric Code, Underwriters Laboratories, etc).

The Engineer will also be responsible for mentoring and leading other team members as needed.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Design 3D sheet metal parts with flat patterns
  • Follow design life cycle states and design standards
  • Create and understand 2D Front View, One-Line/Single-Line and Layout drawings using CAD Software
  • Ensure clear communication between Engineering, Manufacturing and other key stakeholders.
  • Work in a team environment to analyze requirements from clients and develop design solutions
  • Ensure clear communication with suppliers/vendors on an as-needed basis

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 4 - 8 years of professional experience (working for UL891 OEM or Equivalent)
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Suite preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with UL891, UL67, UL508A or UL1558
  • Experience reading/understanding National Electric Code
  • Experience sizing conductors and OCPDs
  • Experience with Control Circuits and Logic
