Qualifications

• Practical manufacturing experience, including 2D drawings for sheet-metal fabrication.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Electromechanical Application Engineer to support the design and manufacturing of UL 891 switchboards and UL 67 panelboards. This role translates customer one-line diagrams and project specifications into accurate bills of materials, engineering documentation, and shop-ready manufacturing drawing packages for procurement, fabrication, assembly, and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret electrical contractor one-line diagrams, project specifications, and customer requirements.
• Break down electrical designs into complete, accurate bills of materials for switchboard and panelboard orders.
• Prepare engineering and production documentation for procurement, fabrication, assembly, and order execution.
• Develop and maintain 3D models, mechanical layouts, and assembly designs using an appropriate 3D CAD platform.
• Convert 3D designs into shop-ready 2D manufacturing drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, flat patterns, bend information, and other fabrication details.
• Design sheet-metal components and enclosures for manufacturing processes including fiber laser cutting, press brake forming, and turret punching.
• Collaborate with production and procurement teams to confirm manufacturability, material availability, and efficient shop flow.
• Support design revisions, engineering changes, document control, and production questions through completion of each order.

Required Qualifications

• Three to five years of relevant experience in electrical power distribution equipment, switchboard design, panelboard design, or a closely related field.
• Working knowledge of UL 891 switchboards and/or UL 67 panelboards.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams and translate them into bills of materials and production documents.
• Practical manufacturing experience, including the preparation of design files and 2D drawings for sheet-metal fabrication.
• Proficiency with a 3D modeling and drafting application; experience may be in any suitable CAD platform.
• Understanding of sheet-metal design and manufacturing methods, including fiber laser cutting, press brake forming, and turret punching.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and cross-functional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP or MRP systems used for bills of materials, purchasing, inventory, or production planning.
• Familiarity with revision control, engineering change processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Exposure to UL 508A or related electrical equipment standards is a plus.

Collaboration

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, fabrication, and assembly personnel to ensure that each switchboard order is electrically accurate, mechanically manufacturable, properly documented, and ready for production.
