PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the manufacturing industry to hire accomplished Swiss Machinists for a direct hire position.
The Role
As a Swiss CNC Machinist, you’ll set up, adjust, and operate multi-axis CNC Swiss machines to produce tight-tolerance aerospace parts that meet exacting customer and quality requirements. You’ll play a hands‑on role in delivering quality parts efficiently while minimizing material waste and supporting a safe, productive machining environment.
What You’ll Do
Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of multi-axis Swiss CNC machines with live tooling .
Read and interpret CNC programs, blueprints, layouts, job packets, and GD&T requirements.
Calculate and adjust feeds and speeds to maintain tight tolerances across a range of materials, including exotic alloys.
Set, adjust, pre-set, and replace tooling as needed.
Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to consistently meet quality and productivity standards.
Collect and enter SPC data using equipment such as comparators, CMMs, Trimos, gauges, and related inspection tools .
Perform in-process and post-process inspections to verify part quality.
Complete secondary operations such as deburring during machine cycle time.
Perform daily machine maintenance and communicate maintenance needs beyond the scope of the Machinist role.
Maintain accurate inventory counts and proper material and part storage.
Keep the work area clean, organized, safe, and efficient.
Follow established setup and safety procedures while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Work collaboratively across shifts and with support personnel to achieve departmental quality and productivity goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience in Swiss machining.
Ability to read and understand CNC programs and operational layouts.
Strong blueprint-reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) skills.
Understanding of tooling requirements, including tool setup and pre-setting.
Knowledge of manufacturing measurement techniques, machining mathematics, and CNC processes.
Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while consistently meeting quality and production expectations.
Understanding of machine-shop safety practices and regulations.
Strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft products.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to plan work effectively and execute according to established priorities.
Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods while working in a machine-shop environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Two-year degree in Machining Technology or completion of a CNC machining trade-school program.
Experience machining tight-tolerance aerospace components .
Experience working with exotic alloys.
Experience with multi-axis Swiss CNC equipment and live tooling.
Experience with SPC and advanced measurement equipment such as CMMs and Trimos.
Pay Details: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour
