Qualifications

As a Multi-Axis CNC Lathe Machinist, you will set up, adjust, and operate multi-axis and multi-turret CNC lathes to manufacture tight-tolerance aerospace components.

Your ability to interpret CNC programs, blueprints, GD&T requirements, tooling, and inspection data will directly contribute to producing quality parts safely, efficiently, and with minimal material waste.

This is more than running a machine. You'll use your technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills to keep production moving and quality on target.

What You'll Do

Set Up & Operate Advanced CNC Equipment

• Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of multi-axis and multi-turret CNC lathe machines.

• Read and interpret CNC code on twin-turret lathes with live tooling.

• Calculate and adjust feeds and speeds to maintain tight tolerances across a variety of metals, including exotic alloys.

• Select, adjust, preset, and replace tooling as needed.

• Follow established setup procedures and recommend opportunities for improvement.

• Perform required side operations during machine cycle time, including deburring.

Deliver Exceptional Quality

• Read and interpret layouts, job packets, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.

• Collect and enter Statistical Process Control (SPC) data.

• Use inspection and measurement equipment such as comparators, CMMs, Trimos systems, gauges, and related instruments.

• Consistently meet established standards for both quality and productivity.

• Help minimize scrap, material waste, and unnecessary use of resources.

Maintain Safe & Reliable Operations

• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient work area.

• Perform required daily machine maintenance.

• Identify maintenance needs beyond the machinist level and promptly communicate them to supervision.

• Follow safety procedures and recognize conditions that could create risks for yourself, coworkers, equipment, or the environment.

• Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure parts are stored appropriately.

Be Part of the Team

• Work collaboratively with machinists, support personnel, and other shifts to meet departmental quality and productivity goals.

• Communicate effectively regarding operational issues, quality concerns, and production requirements.

• Troubleshoot day-to-day machining challenges with minimal supervision.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum 2 years of CNC lathe machining experience

• Ability to read and understand CNC programs and operational layouts

• Knowledge of machining mathematics, measurement techniques, blueprint reading, and GD&T

• Understanding of tooling requirements for CNC machine setup and operation, including tool presetting

• Ability to perform sequences of machining operations with minimal supervision while consistently meeting quality and production standards

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to effectively plan and execute daily work

• Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with Microsoft products

• Strong understanding of machining safety requirements and safe operating practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Two-year degree in Machining Technology, CNC Machining, or related trade-school training

• Experience operating multi-axis or multi-turret CNC lathes

• Experience with twin-turret lathes and live tooling

• Experience machining tight-tolerance aerospace components

• Experience working with exotic alloys

• Hands-on experience using SPC techniques, CMMs, comparators, Trimos equipment, and precision gauges

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on machine shop position. Candidates must be able to:

• Lift and carry up to 70 pounds

• Stand throughout the workday, except during scheduled breaks

• Safely operate the machinery, tools, and equipment required for the position
