CMI Group is seeking a Swiss Screw Machinist for a part-time weekend shift at our Phoenix, AZ location. The role requires operating Swiss screw machines with Fanuc controls, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring tight tolerances per GD&T standards.

Strong inspection capability and attention to detail are essential. Candidates should have 2–5 years of Swiss screw experience, be able to read program offsets, and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience running Swiss Screw machines (Fanuc controls preferred).
  • Knowledge of offsets and program reading is a plus.
  • Familiar with tight tolerances and finishes.
  • Good understanding of GD&T and industry standards of inspection.
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Swiss Screw Machines.
  • Daily machine maintenance (checking fluid levels, cleaning chips, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space.
  • Read and understand drawings, GD&T, and customer/industry standards.
  • Perform in-process inspection and record data.
  • Fill MOTs and job routers; maintain correct part counts.
  • Tag hardware and record discrepancies; escalate issues to lead.
  • Communicate issues to lead personnel for resolution.
  • Report machine collisions and malfunctions to lead personnel.
  • Adhere to safety standards and company paperwork.

Swiss Screw Machinist - Part Time Weekend Shift

(Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing)

Location: 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040 (40th St and Southern)

Shift: Part time weekend shift - Saturday & Sunday 6am-3pm

REQUIRED: Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.

Relevant experience is required for this position. Please do not apply if you do not have CNC Swiss Screw experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate Swiss Screw Machines
  • Daily machine maintenance (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips, etc.)
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work space
  • Ability to read and have a clear understanding of B/P’s including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), and any other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards
  • Proper use of basic inspection, measuring and test equipment to verify machined dimensions of product. Working knowledge of the use of micrometers, calipers, drop indicators.
  • In-process inspection of parts machined. Recording inspection data at the prescribed intervals per the inspection traveler or other company paperwork
  • Filling out MOT and job routers
  • Maintaining correct part counts on the MOT for the operations performed
  • Tagging hardware and recording discrepancies on proper paperwork for hardware known to be discrepant. ALL issues are to be addressed with lead personnel upon discovery
  • Communicate any job related issues/questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead personnel for resolution and or clarification
  • Reporting all machine collisions and malfunctions to lead personnel
  • Adhering to all company and industry safety standards and protocols. Understanding of industry buy-off requirements, company specific handling & FOD requirements, product identification requirements, filling out company paperwork properly (MOT, Inspection Travelers, Job Sheets, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
  • Ability to use computer software, company ERP system, clocking in and out of jobs, etc.
  • 2 – 5 years of experience running Swiss Screw machines (Fanuc controls preferred)
  • Knowledge of off sets and Program reading a plus
  • Familiar with tight tolerances and finishes
  • Good understanding of GD&T and industry standards of inspection
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift
