Top Echelon LLC is seeking a Swiss CNC Setup Machinist to set up and operate tight-tolerance Swiss-type lathes, ensuring first-piece approval before machine hand-off. The role emphasizes training others, maintaining quality, and optimizing cycle times.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings, including tight-tolerance turned-part prints.
• Minimum 2 years Swiss-type CNC setup experience (CITIZEN, STAR, TSUGAMI preferred).
• Working knowledge of guide bushings, bar feeders, and sub-spindle/live tooling.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand/walk for more than 5 hours/day.

Responsibilities

• Set up jobs, as scheduled, to run on our CITIZEN, STAR or TSUGAMI Swiss-type lathes, including guide bushing setup, bar feeder loading, and sub-spindle/live-tool operations.
• Follow established manufacturing processes and procedures. Work with the programmer to ensure accuracy and completeness of all setup and job-related work instructions.
• Responsible for 1st piece approval and machine hand-off, as well as training and/or overseeing multiple operators.
• Ensure that cycle time expectations are met or exceeded.
• Make offsets, speed/feed and rapid edits as needed to further improve cycle time, tool life and quality.
• Inspect parts to ensure conformance to quality specifications, holding tight tolerances on small-diameter turned features using micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, optical comparators, microscopes and other measuring tools as required.
• Operate machines as required between setups, monitoring bar stock, coolant and tool wear during unattended or lights-out runs.
• Follow procedures as needed to address non-conformities.
• Document inspection data, outcomes or results as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
