  • Valid Driver's License.

Swimming Pool Operator

Fortis Native Group is hiring a full-time Swimming Pool Operator who will be responsible for ensuring the proper operations of the pools on our, NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO, contract. The Swimming Pool Operator assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes, studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required, and sequence of installations.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect structures to determine obstructions and prevent weakening due to plumbing
  • installations.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipes, pipe connections, and passage holes.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors using hand and power tools.
  • Cut, bend, and thread pipes using proper equipment such as cutters, torches, and
  • threading machines.
  • Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes made of metals (iron, steel, brass, lead)
  • and nonmetals (glass, vitrified clay, plastic).
  • Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, or plastic solvent and caulking; test
  • systems using water or air pressure.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures including sinks, commodes, water heaters, and water
  • softeners.
  • Repair leaks, burst pipes, and unclog drains; may weld fixtures to structural members.
Pool Operations & Maintenance:
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of pools, complete pool logs and
  • checklists.
  • Monitor and maintain pool water chemistry: pH, chlorine, ORP, alkalinity, salt levels, temperature.
  • Change chlorine tanks as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical and plumbing issues related to pools.
  • Inspect pools regularly for safety, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Clean pools using vacuums, brushes, and chemicals.
  • Clean and repair filter systems and inspect tile for damage.
  • Replace skimmer and filter basket components.
  • Check function and calibration of water chemistry control systems.
Observations:
  • Checks equipment and chemical inventories, and any restocking needs
  • Provides necessary information regarding renovation or annual maintenance needs.

  • Diversion valve actuators
  • Inspect and maintain oil water separators (OWS) and associated piping
  • Report emergencies or unusual malfunctions to supervisors
  • Document materials used and work performed
  • Perform additional tasks as needed based on operational requirements
Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Pool Operator Certification, In compliance to Local Health Codes
  • Working knowledge of Pool Water Chemistry and saltwater chlorinator systems.
  • Basic Knowledge of Swimming Pool Equipment, including installation, troubleshooting, and basic overhaul
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Coordination and dexterity to work with power and hand tools such as drills, electric saws, hammers, sewer snakes, etc.
  • Respond to visual and oral cues.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Stoop, bend, jump and carry heavy loads.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to maneuver on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
  • Think clearly and respond calmly in situations.
