Job summary
The YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Swim Team Coach to develop and lead our youth swim program, emphasizing stroke technique, endurance, and team building in a safe, inclusive environment. The coach fosters sportsmanship and personal growth, guiding swimmers to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include planning structured practices, mentoring swimmers, coordinating meets, and communicating with parents and YMCA leadership.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years experience in competitive swimming or swim coaching.
- Strong understanding of stroke mechanics, race strategies, and endurance training.
- Ability to develop and implement structured training plans.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead structured swim practices focusing on stroke technique and endurance.
- Develop individualized and team training plans aligning with swimmers' abilities and goals.
- Provide constructive feedback to swimmers to improve performance and confidence.
- Supervise practices, meets, and team events, ensuring a safe and positive experience.
- Coordinate and participate in swim meets, including setup, warm-ups, and race-day coaching.
- Track and evaluate swimmer progress and adjust training as needed.
