Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Swim Instructor I & II to teach swim lessons under the YMCA model. The role emphasizes working with children, maintaining safety, and delivering high-quality instruction in a community-focused setting.

You will report to the Aquatics Director, prepare classes, and communicate child progress to parents while upholding YMCA standards and safety policies. Shifts include mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching swim lessons, especially with children.
• Must be able to work varied shifts including mornings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
• Arrive 15 minutes before shift, ready in swimsuit.
• Prepare and store equipment; maximize pool space and safety.
• Start and end classes on time; teach for full session.
• Minimize absenteeism and communicate progress with parents.
• Enforce pool rules and safety procedures from start to finish.
• Maintain attendance and track skill progress; report issues to supervisor.
• Monitor children’s safety and keep them within arm’s reach.
• Incorporate five program components: safety, water orientation, sports, rescue, growth.
