Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Swim Instructors to teach swim lessons in the Waltham area. You will work under the Aquatics Director, delivering lessons in line with YMCA models and maintaining a safe, engaging environment for children and members.

Responsibilities include delivering timely sessions, communicating progress to parents, and upholding all safety policies. Prior training in CPR/First Aid is preferred; no experience is required beyond enthusiasm for teaching children.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, O2 training recommended.
• YMCA Swim Lessons (YSL) training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
• Report on the deck 15 minutes before the scheduled shift dressed in a bathing suit.
• Prepare equipment before class and store it promptly after class.
• Ensure all instructors start and end classes on time.
• Commit to teaching for the entire session with minimal absenteeism.
• Communicate child progress with parents on an ongoing basis.
• Adhere to pool rules and safety procedures and remind about safety rules.
• Know and implement emergency procedures as required.
• Maintain accurate attendance and skill completion records.
• Take notes on strengths and weaknesses of each child.
• Ensure child safety; keep all flotation students within arm's reach.
• Incorporate five program components into each lesson: safety, water orientation, sports/games, rescue, growth.
• Maintain professional communication with supervisors.
