Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach lessons at East Boston YMCA under the YMCA of the USA model. The role emphasizes delivering quality swim instruction, ensuring safety, and communicating progress with parents.

Candidates should have experience teaching swim lessons, enjoy working with people, especially children, and hold active certifications such as CPR/First Aid/O2. This is a part-time on-site position with a $18.00–$22.00 hourly range.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Active certifications required (CPR/First Aid/O2) and YMCA-specific trainings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
• Teach swim lessons following YMCA model and ensure on-time class start/end.
• Prepare equipment and pool space for each class and store after use.
• Communicate child progress with parents on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain safety and supervision, ensuring children stay within arm's reach.
• Incorporate personal safety, water orientation, stroke development, water games, and rescue.
