Job summary

YMCA of Greater Providence is seeking an AQUA INSTRUCTOR to provide leadership and instruction in swimming classes. This part-time role involves varying schedules, with training provided, and reports to the Aquatics Director.

Responsibilities include teaching swim lessons per YMCA guidelines, maintaining progress records, coordinating with parents, and supervising aides. Eligibility requires CPR/First Aid/AED and YMCA Swim Instructor certification, with a minimum age of 16.

Qualifications

• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen are required.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills per YMCA standards.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Builds relationships with students and parents; encourages parent involvement and volunteers.
• Maintains records (attendance, progress reports).
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; follows safety procedures and incident reporting.
• Trains and supervises class aides; operates and reports on equipment as needed.
