Job summary

Penn State Campus Recreation is seeking Swim Instructors to lead group and private swim lessons at University Park locations including the White Building and McCoy Natatorium. Instructors must deliver lessons to diverse ages and abilities, ensure safety, and communicate progress to families.

Training, certifications, and background checks are prerequisites. Instructors may work variable shifts, including mornings and evenings, with up to 24 hours per week during the academic year.

Qualifications

• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Basic Water Safety Instructor certification is required/maintained.
• American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required/maintained.
• Completion of Penn State Bloodborne Pathogens training and background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct group and private swim lessons for various ages and abilities.
• Ensure safety of all participants and maintain hazard-free teaching areas.
• Complete required paperwork and communicate progress to participants and parents.
• Attend trainings and meetings, maintain professional development, and model positive rapport.
