Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking Learn to Swim Instructors to teach group and private swimming lessons at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and RPAC Recreation Natatorium. Roles emphasize time management, responsibility, safety, and a professional demeanor for a diverse participant group.

Shifts include Sundays and additional weekday evenings, with opportunities for certification upgrades. All staff must complete background checks and CPR/First Aid within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching group and/or private swimming lessons.
• Complete the new hire evaluation.
• Regularly attend and participate in meetings, in-service trainings, and skills checks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and care of students during specified class times.
• Adhere to American Red Cross Instructor guidelines.
• Develop safe, progressional, and age-appropriate lessons for group and private classes.
• Prepare individual lesson plans and collaborate with co-instructors.
• Manage participant behavior and maintain attendance records.
• Communicate with swim parents or adult participants about progress.
• Attend staff training sessions and meetings and participate in planning for the program.
