Job summary

Goldfish Swim School - Silver Spring is hiring year-round part-time instructors with leadership opportunities available within your first 3–6 months. You can grow with Goldfish even if this is your after-school or second job to help your future career!

You will instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques, and you’ll communicate progress with parents after each 30‑minute lesson. Training is paid and a set weekly schedule is provided to fit student hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to complete lifeguard, CPR & AED certification class as part of training and work scheduled shifts as a lifeguard.

Responsibilities

• Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Educate students on safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
• Use problem solving and creative thinking to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
• Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment and class materials.
• Perform light cleaning duties such as deck mopping and trash removal as needed.
• Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular hours.
• Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by employer.
