Pay: Swim Instructor/Lifeguard training starts at $12.00/hour, including online learning and training. After successful completion, the rate increases to $15.00/hour. Employees are required to work at least one shift per week.

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Instruct students on water safety and swim techniques according to the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide swim instruction based on curriculum.
2. Enforce safety rules; perform rescues and administer first aid as needed.
3. Evaluate student progress and complete paperwork promptly.
4. Communicate with parents/guardians about student development.
5. Represent GSS positively to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Use problem-solving skills to address student challenges.
7. Inspect pool areas for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage; report issues.
8. Maintain and store pool equipment properly.
9. Report accidents/incidents and complete documentation.
10. Perform Deck Teacher duties as required.
11. Assist with light cleaning duties.
12. Attend mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a lifeguard, youth instructor, coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider required. At least two years of swimming instruction experience preferred. Swimming experience is a plus.

Certifications: Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. Shallow water attendant certification is highly recommended.

Work Environment: Exposure to heat and humidity; moderate noise levels.
