Job summary

The YMCA of the North, Shoreview location, is seeking a Swim Instructor In Training. You will shadow certified instructors, learn swim lesson programming, and complete the required YMCA Swim Instructor Skills verification within 90 days of hire.

No prior teaching experience is required, and training and certification support are provided. The role offers a flexible schedule, paid training at $13.92 per hour, with a future increase to $16.50 per hour after successful training completion.

Qualifications

• Required minimum age of 16.
• Verification of SI readiness within 90 days of hire.
• Complete YSL V6: Observe & Communicate.
• YSL V6: Orientation Principles of Youth.
• Development, YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and communicate policies and procedures for pool areas and safety.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe, positive environment.
