Overview

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta, a leader in education, wellness, youth development, and community-building, is seeking a Swim Instructor I to support its mission of positively impacting lives and communities across Georgia. This role involves creating a welcoming environment, providing swim instruction, and fostering positive relationships with members, volunteers, and colleagues.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 16 years old
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills per YMCA standards
• Complete required e-learning within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Instruct swim lessons following YMCA guidelines and prepare lesson plans
• Develop positive relationships with participants and families; encourage involvement
• Provide program information and refer to other YMCA programs as appropriate
• Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports
• Follow safety and emergency procedures; complete incident reports as needed
• Organize and maintain class equipment; report damages
• Train and supervise class aides
• Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to instruct and observe proper stroke techniques
• Ability to lift equipment and small to medium children
