Job summary

YMCA OF GREATE MONMOUTH COUNTY in Freehold, NJ, is looking for a part-time swimming instructor who is dedicated to promoting member safety and engagement in a community-focused environment. Job description

Job Location: FREEHOLD, NJ 07728 | Position Type: Part Time | Salary Range: $16.50 - $20.50 Hourly

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the pool deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
• Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, report cards, etc.).
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damage equipment.
• Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth. Completes required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures, including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certifications: Professional Rescuer CPR, AED, Basic Frist Aid, and Emergency Oxygen within 3 months.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent within 6 months.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
