Job summary

The Westfield Area YMCA in Cranford, NJ is seeking part-time Swim Instructors to join the Aquatics team. You will run classes safely, adapt to skill levels, and communicate progress to participants and parents. Monday and Thursday shifts run 3pm–7pm, with pay ranges based on certifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must hold YMCA Swim Instructor Certification with BLS, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain safe pool conditions and communicate effectively with participants and staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct classes safely, considering class level and participant abilities.
• Provide feedback and evaluations to participants and guardians.

The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join our growing Aquatics team at our Cranford branch! We offer a fun, positive and inclusive work environment.

The primary duties of a Swim Instructor include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting all classes in a safe manner taking into consideration the level of class that is being taught and the participants' abilities
• Ensuring proper feedback and evaluations are being recorded and communicated to participant and parent/guardian

Hours

Monday and Thursday 3pm to 7pm.

Pay Range

Minor: $16.00-$17.00, based on certifications and experience

Adult: $16.75-$22.00, based on certifications and experience

Requirements

• Must 16 years of age or older
• Must possess YMCA Swim Instructor Certification along with BLS, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications or equivalent
• Must possess the capabilities and maturity to handle the responsibilities involved in maintaining a safe pool
• Ability to create and maintain positive relations with members, participants and staff
