Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Swim Instructor to plan and deliver effective swim instruction using the Y curriculum. You will teach members, participants and non-members in a designated program area, maintaining safety and a positive, inclusive environment.

The role requires punctuality, professional conduct, and the ability to evaluate and place participants in appropriate classes. You will contribute to a culture of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility while supporting program

Qualifications

• Demonstrated public speaking ability and customer service orientation toward individuals and groups.
• At least 6 months of instructor experience in designated aquatic area preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate skills and explain them clearly to class members.
• Plan each teaching class in advance and start on time with proper materials.
• Observe all YMCA safety rules while teaching classes.
• Maintain positive rapport with participants and parents.
• Ensure the pool area is clean and safe and coordinate substitutions as needed.
• Follow the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
