Job summary

The YMCA of Southern Arizona is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to provide high-quality lessons and a safe, welcoming environment for program participants.

You will follow YMCA guidelines, maintain records, support families, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to strengthen healthy living in the community. This role offers important training, a free member benefit, and opportunities to grow with the Y.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Certifications required: Swim Instructor, CPR/AED and First Aid.
• YMCA certifications preferred.
• Completion of YMCA online training upon date of hire.
• Ability to maintain certification readiness.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Maintains accurate program records (attendance, certificates, etc.).
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with participants, volunteers and staff.
• Responds appropriately to emergencies following YMCA safety procedures.
• Engages with diverse groups and ensures a positive member experience.
• Attends required trainings and follows YMCA policies and procedures.
