Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Swim Instructor to lead lessons, foster a welcoming, safe learning environment, and support program participants across aquatics offerings.

You will teach according to YMCA guidelines, build positive relationships with members and volunteers, and help connect families with available programs. Requires current YMCA Swim Instructor certification and CPR/First Aid, with certifications initiated within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Instruct swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines.
• Maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, and program participants.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, with prepared lesson plans and support for participants.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; encourage parent or caregiver involvement.
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and refer participants and families to other programs as appropriate.
• Maintain records as required (attendance, progress reports).
• Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
• Organize and store class equipment; report damaged equipment; train and supervise class aides as assigned.
