Job summary

The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a Swim Instructor to deliver private and group lessons for children and adults, following YMCA standards. Under the Aquatics Coordinator’s guidance, you will assess abilities and tailor instruction while upholding safety and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include teaching and evaluating progress, submitting reports on time, attending trainings, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Background screening as per policy.
• Proficiency in swimming strokes and demonstrations.
• Life saving techniques ability.
• Mutually respectful partnerships with participants.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Self-starter with high energy.
• Adhere to policy on drugs/alcohol/smoke free workplace.
• Instruct and observe stroke techniques.
• Lift equipment or assist with participants.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swim lessons for participants.
• Ensure safety of participants in class.
• Meet scheduling and be on time; handle questions.
• Instructs and evaluates students.
• Submit reports, attendance, and skills on time.
• Attend mandatory trainings.
• Respond to emergencies and secure safety.
• Maintain professional appearance and customer service.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Attend regular staff meetings.
