Job Title: Swim Instructor/Lifeguard

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Keep swimmers safe with lifeguard supervision
2. Provide any first aid necessary
3. Teach swimmers water safety and technique in accordance to our proprietary curriculum
4. Provide positive reinforcement to swimmers
5. Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
6. Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
7. Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
8. Act as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
9. Use problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
10. Inspect pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Report issues to management as appropriate.
11. Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment. Place and remove lane lines.
12. Report accidents and incidents to management. Complete required documentation and paperwork.
13. Perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
14. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.

Safety Standards: The safety of our swimmers, parents and team members is of the utmost importance. Goldfish Swim School follows all CDC and WHO safety standards along with following any local guidelines. In addition here are some additional safety precautions and procedures we follow:

1. Every shift has an on-staff cleaner to sanitize high touch areas in our lobby and pool areas
2. Our pools are disinfected with chlorine to provide the safest swimming environment
3. The CDC states that proper operation, maintenance and disinfection of the water with chlorine should remove or inactivate the virus
4. Our state-of-the-art ventilation system allows fresh air to continuously circulate into our building, further minimizing the spread of any airborne virus
5. Industry experts note that indoor pools are far superior at minimizing virus transmission than most indoor spaces
