Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Instructs students on water safety and swim techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides swim instruction based on the curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules, prevents accidents, makes rescues, and administers first aid when necessary.
• Evaluates students’ progress and completes paperwork promptly.
• Interacts with parents/guardians regarding students’ development.
• Acts as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Uses problem-solving and creative thinking to resolve challenges.
• Inspects pool areas for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues and reports them.
• Maintains pool equipment and manages lane lines.
• Reports accidents/incidents and completes documentation.
• Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Performs light cleaning duties occasionally.
• Attends mandatory workshops and training outside of regular hours.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor required. Swimming experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. Shallow water attendant certification highly recommended.

Work Environment: Regular exposure to heat and humidity. Moderate noise level.
