Position Overview

The WSYMCA is seeking experienced Swim Instructors to join our team at our Church St and Wells Ave locations. Starting pay is $15.50 per hour, dependent on experience, certifications, and education. Responsibilities

1. Instruct swim lessons following YMCA guidelines, ensuring safety, engagement, and adherence to pool rules.
2. Build relationships with students and parents, encouraging involvement and volunteer opportunities.
3. Communicate program information and refer students and parents to other programs as needed.
4. Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
5. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
6. Follow YMCA policies, including safety and emergency procedures, and complete incident reports when necessary.
7. Organize and report on equipment needs and damages.
8. Train and supervise class aides.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Minimum age of 15.
2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
3. Ability to demonstrate all strokes and swim instructor skills per YMCA standards.
4. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent preferred.
5. YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands

1. Ability to instruct and observe proper stroke techniques.
2. Ability to lift equipment and small to average-sized children.
3. Ability to swim and demonstrate all strokes and skills.
