The Sheridan County YMCA is seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to join our Aquatics team and help children build confidence and essential swimming skills in a safe, supportive, comfortable, and fun environment.
As a Swim Instructor, you will teach lessons, monitor progress, maintain a clean pool deck, and follow safety procedures while training class aides when needed. Training will be provided to the right candidate.

As a Swim Instructor, you'll help children develop confidence and essential swimming skills in a safe, supportive, comfortable, and fun environment. You'll have the opportunity to make a real difference while building relationships with children and families in our community.
Teach swimming lessons following YMCA guidelines and prepared lesson plans
Help participants develop proper swimming and stroke techniques
Monitor and evaluate student progress
Create a positive, encouraging environment where children feel comfortable learning
Use creativity and problem-solving skills to help students overcome challenges
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized pool deck
Follow and enforce pool rules and emergency procedures
Set up and put away class equipment and report damaged equipment
Train and supervise class aides when assigned
Communicate effectively with students and parents
Build authentic relationships with families and connect them with other YMCA programs and opportunities
You must:
Be dependable, responsible, and comfortable working with children
Be able to communicate positively with children and parents
Be willing to learn and participate in ongoing training
Be able to follow safety procedures and respond appropriately in emergency situations
Training Requirements:
Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter
CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter
Required abuse risk management and high-risk activity training
Previous swim instruction experience is helpful, but we are happy to train the right candidate.
