Job summary

The Chickahominy Family YMCA in Virginia is seeking part-time swim instructors to lead lessons at our pool, teaching swimming skills and water safety to program participants. The pay range is $15-$17 per hour.

Ideal candidates are enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills and able to work varied shifts with different age groups. CPR/AED/First Aid are required; Lifeguard/WSI certifications are preferred and training within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• YMCA/Red Cross/WSI lifeguard or swim instructor certifications preferred.
• O2 and additional training must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim lessons for program participants at the pool.
• Teach swimming skills and basic water safety to small groups.
• Engage participants with energetic, positive instruction across shifts.

DUTIES for Swim Instructors

Swim instructors should be enthusiastic and energetic, with strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for instructors who can work a variety of shifts with a variety of ages. Using a variety of tools and teaching techniques, swim instructors will work with small groups of students teaching swimming skills, basic water safety, and the YMCA core values.

QUALIFICATIONS for Swim Instructors

Candidates must have current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Current YMCA, American Red Cross or Ellis, Lifeguard and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or WSI certifications are preferred but not necessary. O2 and additional training is required to be completed within the first 30 days of hire.
