Job summary

The Goochland Family YMCA is seeking part time swim instructors to lead swim lessons for program participants at our pool. Pay range for this position is $15-$17 per hour.

Swim Instructors should be enthusiastic and energetic, with strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for individuals who can work a variety of shifts with a variety of ages, teaching swimming skills and water safety using YMCA-approved techniques.

Qualifications

• Must have current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Certifications such as YMCA, American Red Cross Lifeguard, or WSI preferred but not required.
• If not certified, employer will certify you.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim lessons for program participants at the pool.
• Teach swimming skills and basic water safety to small groups.
• Use varied teaching tools and techniques to engage diverse ages.

Using a variety of tools and teaching techniques, swim instructors will work with small groups of students teaching swimming skills, basic water safety, and the YMCA core values.

QUALIFICATIONS for Swim Instructors

Swim instructors must have current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Current YMCA, American Red Cross Lifeguard, or Ellis and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or WSI certifications are preferred but not necessary. If not currently certified, we will certify you!
