Job summary

MIKEL, Inc. in Middletown, RI, is seeking a SWFTS Integration and Test Systems Engineer to plan, execute, and document integration and test of Linux-based submarine combat software and hardware in labs and platform-representative configurations.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on combat system experience with a Computer Science and/or Systems Engineering background and can translate system requirements into disciplined integration and test activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Systems Eng, SWE, or related field.
• 4-7 years in systems engineering, software, or DoD Navy programs.
• Hands-on combat system experience with integration, operation, or testing.
• Experience with Navy submarine combat systems, SWFTS, or BYG-1 environments.
• Proficient with Linux; able to troubleshoot services and logs.
• Experience scripting in Python, Bash, Java, or C++ for test automation.
• Knowledge of networked and distributed systems and protocols.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience with version control, defect tracking, and release management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute integration and test activities for SWFTS software and hardware.
• Integrate software releases, equipment, network services, and configurations in labs.
• Develop test plans, procedures, scripts, and reports with traceability.
• Configure and troubleshoot Linux-based combat system environments.
• Verify interfaces and data exchanges across subsystems per requirements.
• Conduct functional, regression, interoperability, and performance tests.
• Maintain requirements traceability and support test readiness reviews.
• Investigate failures, analyze logs, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage baselines with CM and software teams.
• Support system architecture and design decisions through evaluation.
