Job summary

Theory in New York is seeking a Sweater Technical Designer to drive development from initial tech pack to bulk production, ensuring fit and quality across styles.

You will collaborate with Design, Production, and Quality Control to meet calendar deadlines and maintain archives, with 4–5 years of sweater design experience and strong knowledge of construction, gauges, yarns, and grade rules.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or equivalent experience.
• 4-5 years of sweater technical design experience.
• Strong understanding of sweater construction, gauges, stitches, yarns, and garment engineering.
• Strong understanding of grade rules.
• Strong organizational and multi-project management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Solid working knowledge of PLM, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Develop sweater garments from tech pack through bulk production approval.
• Assess samples against specifications and provide fit comments to vendors.
• Participate in fit sessions and document fit corrections and approvals.
• Track sample status and coordinate fit sessions with cross-functional teams.
• Support Technical Designers in measuring and prepping for fit sessions.
• Communicate with vendors and Quality Control about fit, specs and constructions.
• Partner with Design to align aesthetics, proportion, fit and construction.
• Work with Production to meet calendar deadlines.
• Organize and maintain sweater archives and wear-test feedback.
• Contribute ideas to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
