Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York City is seeking an Associate Technical Sweater Designer to join our team. You will assist in developing tech packs, manage proto-to-production updates, and support the technical design process for knitwear collections.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in technical design, strong Illustrator skills, PLM/PDM experience, and excellent communication to coordinate with suppliers and internal partners.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in technical design, pattern-making, garment construction, and fitting, with a background in sweaters or knitwear.
• Experience with knit, yarn, gauge, knitting construction, and wash processes.
• Proficiency with Illustrator; PLM/PDM experience preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication to convey technical information.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Must be English-proficient for effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up initial development specs and publish tech packs for proto requests.
• Maintain tech pack updates and fit comments through proto to bulk production.
• Review proto and production samples, assess design and fit, and suggest adjustments.
• Help prepare for fit sessions by measuring garments and noting fittings.
• Support Sweater Technical Designer by handling workload to meet deadlines and work independently.
• Communicate with suppliers on technical issues, providing feedback to achieve desired looks.
