Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York City is seeking an Associate Technical Sweater Designer to join our team. You will assist in developing tech packs, manage proto-to-production updates, and support the technical design process for knitwear collections.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in technical design, strong Illustrator skills, PLM/PDM experience, and excellent communication to coordinate with suppliers and internal partners.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in technical design, pattern-making, garment construction, and fitting, with a background in sweaters or knitwear.
• Experience with knit, yarn, gauge, knitting construction, and wash processes.
• Proficiency with Illustrator; PLM/PDM experience preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication to convey technical information.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Must be English-proficient for effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

Our Client, A contemporary Brand in NYC is looking for an Associate Technical Sweater Designer to join their team!

Responsibilities:

• Assist in setting up initial development specs for new styles and publishing tech packs for proto requests.
• Maintain all tech pack updates and fit comments for proto stage through bulk production.
• Review proto and production samples, design and fit intent and suggest adjustments as necessary.
• Help to prepare for fit sessions by checking in samples, accurately measuring garments, and taking notes in fittings.
• Support Sweater Technical Designer by helping support technical comment workload in order to maintain deadlines. Must be able to work independently.
• Communicate with suppliers on all technical issues, providing technical expertise on how to correct or achieve a desired look and giving detailed feedback on samples.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years experience in Technical Design, pattern making, garment construction and fitting experience. Background in sweaters / knitwear required.
• Experience with knit, yarn, gauge, knitting construction, and wash
• Possess good computer skills, Illustrator proficiency required, PLM / PDM experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner – strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail, accuracy, with strong organizational skills
• Must be English-proficient in order to communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
