Job summary
The Washington State Office of the Attorney General seeks an attorney with significant litigation experience to lead and supervise a trial team of 3 to 4 attorneys who prosecute SVP cases. The selected candidate will report to the SVP Section Chief and work with other attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants and investigators to prosecute SVP cases in state and federal courts.
SVP caseloads include civil commitment, post-commitment proceedings, and related appeals, with supervision of trial
Qualifications
- At least five years of trial experience; admission to practice in Washington state courts.
- ABA-accredited law school or WSBA Rule 6 Law Clerk Program and licensed to practice in Washington State.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a trial team of 3–4 attorneys prosecuting SVP cases.
- Report to the SVP Section Chief and coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and investigators.
- Manage attorneys under supervision, evaluate performance, mentor in trial preparation, and develop training for less-experienced trial attorneys.
- Handle SVP caseload, including civil commitment and related appeals in state and federal courts.
