Job summary

The Washington State Office of the Attorney General’s Vancouver Regional Services Division seeks an attorney to join a high-volume litigation practice in downtown Vancouver, WA. The attorney will handle diverse state-court matters with frequent trials and will represent DCYF and other client agencies statewide.

Qualifications

• Graduated from ABA-accredited law school or completed WSBA Rule 6 Law Clerk Program and licensed to practice in Washington.
• Ability to quickly adapt to practice with assignment of 60+ cases and shift between different types of work.
• Strong communication with client agencies, attorneys, and guardians ad litem.
• Passion for child welfare and a demonstrated desire to litigate; capable time management under heavy caseloads.

Responsibilities

• Represent DCYF in child welfare cases before trial and appellate courts.
• Advise on regulatory enforcement matters and participate in contested matters before the Office of Administrative Hearings and related Superior Court proceedings.
• Travel regularly within Washington State to handle regional matters.
• Review petitions and documents, prepare witnesses, and manage discovery.
• Communicate with guardians ad litem and colleagues to resolve issues and coordinate schedules.
• Contribute to a supportive, ethical, and professional work environment.
