Job summary

State of Washington in Seattle seeks an experienced attorney to lead the SVP Unit as Trial Team Leader. You will supervise a team of 3–4 attorneys prosecuting SVP civil commitment cases and handle a lighter caseload of SVP matters. The role requires collaboration with paralegals and investigators across state courts.

You will report to the SVP Section Chief, mentor staff, oversee performance, and contribute to training programs while advancing public safety objectives.

Qualifications

• At least five years of trial experience.
• Admission to practice in Washington state courts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a trial team of 3–4 attorneys prosecuting SVP civil commitment cases.
• Report to the SVP Section Chief and collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and investigators.
• Manage attorney performance, mentor trial staff, and assist in training for less-experienced attorneys.
• Perform SVP trial duties including pretrial discovery and post‑trial processes; some appeals.
