Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Sustainment Engineer Capability Lead in Huntsville, AL to drive the department’s sustainment engineering capability and support program execution. You will lead a matrixed team, develop processes and standards, and ensure qualified personnel are available to meet evolving program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, systems engineering, or related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated leadership or people-management experience.
• Experience in sustainment engineering, logistics engineering, systems engineering, integrated product support, or related discipline.
• Experience supporting complex defense, aerospace, weapons systems, or similarly technical programs.
• Knowledge of lifecycle sustainment, maintenance planning, reliability, and logistics support concepts.
• Ability to lead technical personnel while balancing development with program execution requirements.
• Experience in a matrix organization and coordinating across program, functional, and technical leadership.
• Ability to communicate technical and sustainment issues clearly to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustainment engineering personnel supporting multiple programs.
• Oversee direct sustainment engineering work to align requirements, workload, and challenges.
• Manage performance, development, and staffing.
• Develop and evolve sustainment engineering capability with program needs.
• Identify capability gaps and support hiring decisions.
• Improve sustainment processes, templates, tools, and standards.
• Ensure training and governance for sustainment capability.
• Support early consider­ations of sustainment in system lifecycle.
• Integrate reliability, maintainability, supportability, and lifecycle cost into decisions.
• Collaborate across engineering, product support, training, and depot operations to enable end-to-end logistics.
• Participate in design reviews to influence lifecycle decisions.
• Establish peer review and quality controls for sustainment products.
• Support contracting deliverables with sustainment input.
• Leverage data and analytics to improve planning and decisions.
• Support recruiting and succession planning for sustainment staff.
