Job summary

Axon Enterprise is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in Scottsdale, AZ or San Francisco, CA to lead sustaining engineering for field issues, manage ECOs, CAPAs, RCAs, and drive design changes through validation and production release. You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and product teams to improve reliability, reduce costs, and support NPI-to-sustaining transitions.

Requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of experience in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of product design or sustaining engineering experience, preferably in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical devices.
• Demonstrated experience in sustaining engineering: ECOs, RCAs, CAPAs, and field failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (CAPA) processes for field failures and customer-reported issues.
• Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and product revisions to improve reliability, reduce cost, or address manufacturing defects.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, and failure analysis to identify and resolve design deficiencies.
• Own sustaining design changes from investigation through validation and production release.
• Support NPI-to-sustaining transitions and ensure robust handoffs for new products entering the sustaining phase.
• Interface regularly with domestic and international manufacturing partners and suppliers.
• Maintain and improve product documentation including drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Work cross-functionally with quality, electrical engineering, operations, and product teams to prioritize and resolve product issues.
• Hone your engineering expertise in a dynamic environment focused on continuous improvement and product excellence.
