Position Summary

Omega Medical Imaging is seeking a Sustaining / Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on engineering support for the production and continued improvement of our medical imaging systems. This role will work directly with the production floor to resolve mechanical and electromechanical issues, improve manufacturability, maintain released designs, develop tooling and fixtures, create work instructions and keep products moving efficiently through manufacturing.

The ideal candidate is a mechanical engineer with excellent SolidWorks proficiency who is equally comfortable at a CAD workstation and on the production floor. The role will also support shorter-term redesigns and product improvements involving surgical tables, C-arms, motion systems, structural assemblies, and related electromechanical components.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing, resolving mechanical and electromechanical issues that affect assembly, test, quality, or production flow.
  • Investigate production, supplier, and field issues, determine root cause, and implement practical corrective design solutions.
  • Maintain and update SolidWorks parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and manufacturing documentation for released products.
  • Support the formal design release and engineering change process, including drawings, bills of material, specifications, part numbers, and associated documentation.
  • Create and maintain engineering information and bills of material in the company’s MRP system.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, serviceability, reliability, and product quality.
  • Work directly with assemblers, technicians, machinists, quality personnel, and suppliers to resolve practical manufacturing problems.
  • Design and improve assembly fixtures, tooling, gauges, alignment aids, and manufacturing aids as needed.
  • Perform dimensional analysis, tolerance stack-ups, fit and clearance evaluations, and GD&T reviews.
  • Support NCRs, corrective actions, supplier issues, and engineering change activities.
  • Support prototype, pilot, and new-product builds and identify manufacturability issues before production release.
  • Design or modify electromechanical mechanisms, structural components, assemblies, and motion systems used in surgical tables, C-arms, and related medical imaging equipment.
  • Work with suppliers on fabrication methods, tooling, component selection, manufacturability, and technical issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Excellent SolidWorks proficiency is required, including parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and production documentation.
  • Experience supporting the manufacture of complex mechanical or electromechanical products.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, fits and clearances, materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with machined parts, sheet metal, weldments, fabricated assemblies, bearings, shafts, guides, and linear motion components.
  • Experience applying DFM/DFA principles and making practical design changes to improve production.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a curious, practical engineer who enjoys solving real hardware and manufacturing problems. This person should be equally comfortable working in SolidWorks, standing beside an assembler on the production floor, and digging into a problem until fully resolved.

The right candidate understands that good engineering is not finished when the drawing is released. The design must be manufacturable, testable, serviceable, reliable, and properly documented. This role is a good fit for an engineer who likes owning the details that keep a complex product line running while also contributing to product improvements and redesigns.

What We Offer
