Stored Energy Systems (SENS) in Longmont, CO is seeking a Sustaining Electrical Engineer to own ongoing support for released products, drive improvements, and maintain documentation. The role emphasizes reliability, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.

The engineer will troubleshoot field and production issues, work with cross-functional teams, and lead changes to schematics, BOMs, and test fixtures while ensuring backward compatibility where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in sustaining engineering, electrical product design, manufacturing support, or technical support.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, AC/DC power, circuit protection, and related components.
• Experience managing component lifecycle and obsolescence with testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical/failure at component, assembly, and system levels and drive root cause.
• Hands-on with lab and production test equipment (DMMs, scopes, data acquisition, power supplies).
• Ability to read/update schematics, BOMs, specs, drawings.
• Experience with engineering change control and release of controlled docs.
• Experience applying DFM/DFA for cost/quality/manufacturing impact.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own sustaining electrical engineering activities for released SENS products balancing reliability, availability, manufacturability, cost, and user needs.
• Investigate electrical design issues in production or field; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Provide Tier 2 technical support to Production diagnosing complex problems.
• Monitor component reliability, lifecycle, availability, and obsolescence risks.
• Research and qualify alternative components, materials, and suppliers.
• Develop, validate, document, and release engineering changes; update BOMs, specs, drawings.
• Coordinate design-change handoffs with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and suppliers.
• Plan and execute verification testing for sustaining changes with laboratory instrumentation.
• Build and maintain customer documentation for released products.
• Implement DFM/DFA improvements to reduce variation and improve build and service.
