Job summary

Urban Initiatives is seeking a Sustainable Community Schools Site Coordinator to lead the SCS implementation within Chicago Public Schools. The role bridges school, family, and community partnerships to advance a justice-centered, whole-child development approach.

As a strategist, mentor, and motivator, you will coordinate leadership teams, map assets and needs, and design sustainable school-based programs that engage youth, parents, educators, and community members.

Qualifications

• Commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-led decision-making.
• Proven experience in community organizing, youth development, education, or related fields.
• Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and project-management abilities.
• Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish or other community languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) planning and coordination with school leadership, families, and community partners.
• Facilitate regular SCS Leadership Team meetings and ensure equitable participation across stakeholders.
• Coordinate attendance, reporting, and compliance with funding sources and CitySpan data entry.
• Develop and share transparent reports, communications, and strategic plans with the school community.
• Foster authentic partnerships, community engagement, and youth voice in decision making.
• Support needs assessments, asset mapping, and development of sustainable school-based programs.
