Job summary

Urban Initiatives in Chicago seeks a Sustainable Community Schools Site Coordinator to lead implementation of the SCS model, bridging school, family, and community partnerships to dismantle oppressive systems and create sustainable support. This full-time role reports to the Director, OST and the School Principal, guiding strategic planning and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Deep commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-led decision-making.
• Proven experience in community organizing, youth development, education, or related fields.
• Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate across sectors, and innovate.
• Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools and local community-based organizations (preferred).
• Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish or other languages represented in the community (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination of the SCS plan with school and community partners.
• Convene a representative SCS Leadership Team meeting monthly.
• Support shared leadership and equitable participation across school groups.
• Align school resources to the SCS vision.
• Develop and sustain community school programs with stakeholders.
• Design outreach strategies engaging youth, parents, educators, and communities.
• Translate findings into strategic goals for CIWP and budget priorities.
• Maintain attendance, timesheets, and documentation for compliance.
