Job summary

IMEG Corporation in Naperville, IL seeks a Sustainability & Energy Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program. You will collaborate with engineers to advance sustainable design through energy modeling, certification support, and decarbonization analyses across multiple projects.

Responsibilities include energy modeling, daylight and CFD analyses, and LEED/WELL/PHIUS certification coordination, with mentorship and cross-disciplinary teamwork within a 100% ESOP-owned firm environment.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
• Prior internship in building design consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sustainable design across the company.
• Assist with building performance analyses on projects.
• Support green building certification efforts, including energy modeling, documentation, and certification coordination.
• Coordinate design information from architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier sources to inform energy models.
• Assist in identifying decarbonization strategies, including solar photovoltaic assessments and calculations.
• Assist in making sustainable design recommendations and design decisions with support from senior staff.
• Research code requirements for energy-efficient design, including LEED, IECC, and ASHRAE 90.1.
• Assist with the preparation and issuance of reports.
