Job summary

MSI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Mooresville, NC to design and develop automotive components. The role focuses on CAD modeling, BOM creation, and drawing package development while coordinating with project management to keep schedules on track.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in CREO, FEA, and PDM tools, plus proven experience with vehicle subsystems and manufacturing support. A BS in engineering and 5+ years relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive, motorsports or defense vehicle related field.
• Experience with sheet metal, weldments, and machined parts is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years as high-level CAD user (CREO Preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of PDM experience (Windchill Preferred).
• Experience in FEA (Ansys) is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience designing and analyzing automotive components and systems.
• Highly motivated, organized, and responsible.

Responsibilities

• Review project design requirements and justify designs during reviews.
• Create CAD models using parametric skeleton strategy and define BOM.
• Develop drawing package and ensure status reporting to Project Manager.
• Work with Engineering Team to promote self-growth and knowledge.
• Model vehicle sub-systems and manage components in CAD.
• Support prototypes with production team and vendor base.
• Ensure designs meet goals and maintain project schedule.
