Job summary

QA1 is seeking a Design Engineer in Lakeville, MN (or Mooresville, NC) to design and specify components for automotive suspensions and chassis. You will create 3D CAD models, perform calculations, and support manufacturing-friendly designs.

You should have 2–4 years of relevant experience, a solid foundation in design for manufacturing, and proficiency with SolidWorks; familiarity with VXelements/Creaform.OS is a plus. Collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant experience required.
• Experience in automotive industry and knowledge of suspension products.
• Advanced solid modeling expertise; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, welding, casting, stamping, etc.
• Knowledge of FEA, kinematic design, 3D printing, metrology tools.
• Ability to perform complex design calculations and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead design and prototype projects using engineering principles.
• Create part models and assemblies in CAD.
• Analyze and reverse engineer components for improvements.
• Focus on design for manufacturing to enable efficient production.
• Ensure smooth product launches to production.
• Specify materials, hardness, finishes, and tolerances.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews.
