OMAKAI sushi - Coconut Grove is seeking Line Cooks to join a dynamic kitchen team in Miami, FL. You will prepare sushi ingredients, learn recipes, and ensure quality while maintaining a clean, organized station.

Ideal candidates have restaurant experience, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment. The role involves long shifts and physical work in a busy kitchen, with opportunities for growth into sushi chef assisting positions.

Qualifications

• Display a positive and friendly attitude at all times.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
• Handle food in a safe and hygienic manner that adheres to all company and government policies and protocols.
• Work in a team and communicate well with staff, management, and customers, even under pressure.
• Three years of kitchen experience preferred but not required.
• Japanese cuisine knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality of food and that all items are prepared to the highest standards.
• Know the menu thoroughly and follow recipes and preparation instructions.
• Minimize waste of all food and kitchen items.
• Prepare rice according to the specific process and recipe.
• Oversee inventory and order accuracy with suppliers.
• Contribute to kitchen personnel training.
• Perform side jobs and clean work stations at shift end.
• Abide by all federal, state, and local labor health and safety laws.
