Job summary

Trapper’s Sushi Surprise LLC in Surprise, Arizona, is seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join a fast-paced team. You will prepare sushi dishes, inspect ingredients, and maintain a clean, well-stocked station while ensuring top quality and presentation.

You’ll work with front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver guest-friendly service, manage inventory, and support training of new staff as the restaurant expands. Arizona-certified food-handlers are required and weekend shifts are common.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional sushi-preparation experience preferred.
• Experience preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty dishes preferred.
• Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi-preparation techniques.
• Understanding of food-safety, sanitation, allergen-awareness, and proper food-storage practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with attention to detail.
• Valid food-handler certification must be obtained within the required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty dishes according to company recipes and presentation standards.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper preparation before use.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked sushi station.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, allergen-awareness, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
• Provide friendly and engaging service to guests at the sushi bar.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house team to maintain efficient service.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock ingredients, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Support the training of new sushi team members.
